Canals Festival 3rd & 4th June 2017

Etruria Canals Festival is back again on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June 2017.  This annual event celebrating the city’s canals and canal heritage is one of the largest of its kind in the area and a great day out for all the family. Festival highlights include:

 A large historic boat gathering including the chance to come on board some of the boats

  • Demonstrations and workshops of traditional canal crafts including rope work and rag-rug techniques
  • On-site working blacksmith forge, Sculpted Steel
  • Jesse Shirley’s 1857 Bone and Flint Mill, the only remaining operational Steam Driven Potters’ Mill in the world is on-site at the museum and will be in steam 12.30-16.30 each day with tours available. Entry to mill; Adults £4 or guided tour £6, under 16s free
  • Green Man Festival regulars Stoke based ‘I See Magical Creatures UK’ running their mix of performance and creative workshops
  • New company KT Lala pop up and play will be inviting children to decorate their TeePee and providing a range of messy crafts and activities designed for our very youngest visitors
  • Music and dance performances will run through out both days, including festival regulars Zazu Tribal Dance and Angels in Dance, and groups new to the event including a local Ukulele band and Bollywood style dance group
  • Storyteller Ian Douglas will be entertaining the crowds from his bow top caravan and onboard a story-telling narrow boat
  • Hands on clay workshops with Etruria Artists and Middleport Pottery
  • Lymestone Brewery will be running the beer tent and their will be a range of food offers including wood fired pizza, burgers, baked potato and the famous B’oatcake boat!
